Dubu on the road

The beginning of the end?

The beginning of the end - New shock absorbers for the Duro

The beginning of the end?

Finally the waiting is over – our honeymoon journey can begin. But we still have an important appointment with Overlandtechnics in Tuggen. We will miss a crash course in engine, transmission and automation technology. So Monday morning, 30 July 2018 at 9 a.m. we will start the course with Jörg. As we lie under the Duro Jörg sees something shiny and fluid on the front axle. He thinks that the oil is from the shock absorber. Briefly we look at the opposite shock absorber and it also loses oil. Great – the start of the journey begins with repairs. Is this the beginning of the end?

Get shock absorbers

After finishing the crash course we then start the search for two front axle shock absorbers. The requested sources cannot deliver immediately. But we found what we were looking for at ESB vehicles in Albbruck. Andreas, owner of ESB provides us with the shock absorbers for pickup. So on Tuesday morning in the morning we drive to Albbruck – with the Volvo that we fortunately haven’t given away yet – and pick up the spring rods that compensate for unevenness. Back in Tuggen the defective ones are exchanged for the new shock absorbers. Jörg had a really sweaty job and the temperature inside and outside the garage was 33 degrees. On 31 July 2018 at 5:30 pm the Duro world was back in order. We were really ready to go.

Many thanks!

At this point we would like to thank Jörg von Overlandtechnics and Andreas von ESB-Fahrzeuge. They made sure with energy that our start was not the beginning of the end.

Overlandtechnics offers the 4×4 enthusiast just about everything the heart desires. Anyone who wants good advice and top service is in good hands here. The guys at the 4×4 forge know what they are talking about – everyone has offroad experience and offroad driving in their blood.

ESB vehicles is the insider address when it comes to Duro’s. Andreas knows like no other every screw on the Duro. A feat – he used to be development manager for the Duro’s.

PS: unfortunately we did not take any photos during the whole shock absorber installation as well as the procurement. This is why there are so few coloured areas to be seen here. 🙂

Wir sind Claudia und Thomas und möchten mit unserem Blog und unseren Tipps Anregungen geben und die Fantasie ankurbeln.
